Who is Darren Hunter?
At the time this article was written, Hunter is a 52-year-old man who formerly worked as a special education teacher at Chelan Middle School, according to KIRO 7 News. A current resident of Chelan, Wash., Hunter formerly lived in Kent but moved after pleading guilty to assault with sexual motivation, a misdemeanor.
What are the past and current allegations against Darren Hunter?
There are few details currently available about the most recent allegation concerning Hunter. What we do know is that the Chelan Sherriff’s Office arrested Hunter at his home on July 30, 2023, on suspicion of rape after a woman alleged that Hunter assaulted and raped her one day earlier. According to deputies, Hunter brought the woman to his home after paying her for sex with an offer to sell her prescription drugs. It was then that the alleged sexual assault took place.
Hunter had previously been accused of sexual assault in 2021. In that incident, he was charged in King County Superior Court with third-degree rape in February 2022. The charges stemmed from an incident that occurred in August 2021 with a 44-year-old woman who had met Hunter on a dating app. Hunter was working as a special education teacher at Madison Middle School in Seattle Public Schools at the time. Hunter ended up pleading to a lesser offense of assault in the fourth degree with sexual motivation.
