An additional 28 plaintiffs have come forward alleging they were sexually abused by urologist Dr. Darius Paduch at either New York-Presbyterian Weill Cornell Medical Center or Northwell Health.
The complaints allege that both hospitals received multiple complaints about misconduct by Dr. Paduch yet failed to take any action to protect patients from his predatory behavior.
The first lawsuit against Dr. Paduch was filed in December of last year and the firm now represents over 70 individuals, all alleging abuse by Dr. Paduch. In April, Dr. Paduch was indicted on four counts of unlawful sexual activity with two minor patients.
“We hope the victims of Dr. Paduch know that they are not alone, and that these hospitals were complicit in their failure to protect patients. Even after being made aware of the abuse, both institutions failed to properly investigate these concerns and allowed Dr. Paduch to continue practicing medicine and seeing patients for over a decade – and, to this day, have still not informed their patients of the truth behind his sexual abuse of patients or their rights to recourse.”
In order to preserve their legal rights, survivors need to take action before the New York lookback window ends on November 23, 2023.
