Medical Negligence

While injury and deaths do occur in hospitals due to ordinary, unforeseen complications, medical negligence is a serious problem that causes harm to hundreds of thousands of Americans each year. When a hospital, doctor, or medical staff create a problem that causes injury, they may be liable for damages.

What constitutes Medical Negligence?

Medical negligence is when, due to the actions or inaction of a medical professional, harm, injury, or death occurs to a patient. In Washington State, medical professionals have to perform at or above the Standard of Care for a reasonable medical professional. If the care provided falls below that standard, and injury or death occurs, that person can be held financially liable in a civil lawsuit.

“All men make mistakes, but a good man yields when he knows his course is wrong, and repairs the evil. The only crime is pride.”— Sophocles, Antigone
