About the case
Mr. Pfau, in conjunction with a team of lawyers from Washington and Idaho, represented 70 victims in the bankruptcy proceedings involving the Pacific Northwest Society of Jesus, more commonly known as the “Jesuits.” The bankruptcy was filed in federal court in Portland, Oregon. Many of the plaintiffs were Native Americans victimized by Jesuit priests on western reservations in Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho. The bankruptcy case was settled in 2011 for $166,000,000. Mr. Pfau’s clients’ cases received approximately $40,000,000 of the proceeds.
